Lawan’s tweet exposed Northerners secret plan for Tinubu’s candidature

When he identified Kashim Shettima, the former governor of Borno State, as the APC’s presidential candidate, Nigeria’s Senate President Ahmad Lawan set social media users’ tongues buzzing.

On Wednesday morning, the senator representing Yobe North senatorial district shared images of his meeting with APC stakeholders on his verified Twitter account, including Shettima, who is the running mate for the party’s presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Before it was deleted, Nigerians who read the tweet expressed concern.

Some questioned whether Lawan was conveying a message to Nigerians as they questioned whether the APC just used Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos State, as a stand-in with Shettima in mind as their first choice.
