Gunmen suspected of being bandits operating on the Shinkafi MorikiKaura Namoda road in Zamfara state killed as many as seven people. 

Our correspondent learned that the thugs also set vehicles and food on fire. Local Musa Shuaibu, who confirmed the incident to newsway, said gunmen attacked 15 vehicles and set five of them on fire. Shuaibu said, “They blocked the road, removed many passengers from the vehicles and moved with them to an unknown destination. 

Some of the vehicles affected, he said, included three golf cars, a truck carrying tomatoes and a Sharon vehicle He said the bandits had been on the road since last Wednesday.

“You will hardly see motorists plying the road because of the heavy presence of the bandits and their leader, Bello Turji,” added.

A spokesperson for the command, SP Mohammed Shehu, could not be reached on the telephone as efforts to reach him failed.
