Over 48,000 vulnerable households in Nasarawa State would benefit from the Federal Government Conditional Cash Transfer Scheme of the National Social Investment Programme (NSIP).

Senior Special Assistant to Governor Abdullahi A Sule on Humanitarian Services, Hon Imran Usman Jibrin, disclosed this, Friday, at the flagging-off ceremony of the scheme in Nasarawa Local Government Area of the state.

Hon Imran, who doubles as the Focal Person for the National Social Investment Programmes in the state, said payment of six months arrears (#30,000) owed beneficiaries of National Conditional Cash Transfer in Nasarawa State will be paid to over 48,000 beneficiaries across the state.

While flagging-off the scheme, Imran expressed gratitude to the Honourable Minister for Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouq for the resumption of the programme in the state.

According to Imran, Nasarawa State is one of the few states to introduce a replica of the Federal Government Conditional Cash Transfer Programme in the state, where a stipend of N5000 is paid monthly to beneficiaries cutting across the 13 LGAs of the state, saying the governor is working tirelessly to expand its scope and replicate all other programmes of the NSIP in the state.

He explained further that the Conditional Cash Transfer programme is designed to benefit poor and vulnerable households with a monthly stipend of N5,000 (US$12.16), while encouraging beneficiaries to utilise the cash to elevate the financial states of their families.
