Shehu Barau Ningi, the New Nigeria Peoples Party’s (NNPP) national treasurer, has left his position.
Additionally, he submitted his resignation from the party in Bauchi State.
This was stated in a brief letter that he wrote and personally signed and was given to our correspondent. It was addressed to the Chairman of the NNPP, Ningi Ward, Ningi Local Government Area, Bauchi State.
The letter, dated November 25th, 2022, was addressed as follows: “Resignation as a member and National Treasurer of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).”
The NNPP Chairman of the Ningi LGA, the Chairman of the Bauchi State Chapter, the National Chairman, the NNPP Presidential Candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, and Engineer Buba Galadima were all copied on the letter.
Ningi stated in his letter of resignation that he was quitting his job and his membership in the party for “personal reasons.”
He once served as the NNPP’s chairman for the state of Bauchi.
With effect from today, Friday, November 25, Barau announced: “For personal reasons, I wish to tell you of my decision to resign from the party as a member and, concurrently, as the National Treasurer.”
When contacted on the phone, Ningi confirmed the development to our Correspondent.
Asked about the next move and what party he’ll be joining, he said: “I’ll let you know my next move next week.”
Ningi was in the APC, dumped the party and went to the PRP; he later dumped the party and went back to the APC before joining the NNPP.
He was a member of the All Progressives Congress and later became a Commissioner of Budget and Planning under the administration of Mohammed Abubakar, resigned from his appointment on December 23, 2016, claiming that he was being “marginalised” by the governor.
Later, he rose to the position of PRP Chairman in Bauchi State after joining the People’s Redemption Party there.
Ningi, however, announced his resignation as a party member and the chairman of the party in Bauchi State in a letter sent to Falalu Bello, the PRP’s national chairman, on October 17, 2020.
He rejoined the APC, his previous party, after resigning.
