LIZ TRUSS: I’ll continue in office until a new leader is elected


Liz Truss has stepped down as the State leader of the UK political government, following a month and half in office.

She just made the declaration 24 hours in the wake of saying she was a fighter and would continue in office.

Truss succeeds Boris Johnson who resigned his appointment as PM in July over a series of scandals. Liz Truss said she would stay on until a new leader is elected.

According to a statement she issued through her verified official twitter handle @trussliz, says:

“I recognise however that, given the situation, I cannot deliver the mandate on which I was elected by the Conservative Party.  

I have therefore spoken to His Majesty The King to notify him that I am resigning as Leader of the Conservative Party.”

In the meantime Truss will continue to lead until a new leader which will succeed her is elected as she hinted might take place in the coming week.

Mary Elizabeth Truss is a British politician who is the current prime minister of the United Kingdom and leader of the Conservative Party. She previously held various Cabinet offices under prime ministers David Cameron, Theresa May and Boris Johnson, most recently as foreign secretary from 2021 to 2022.
