The Federal Government has apologized to undergraduates, parents and guardians after the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) canceled its eight-month strike.

ASUU’s leadership declared the restrictive suspension of the strike on Friday following a court ruling against it’s industrial action.

The Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment has now said “thanks to that large number of engaged negotiation team whose efforts lead to the canceling of the strike.[irp]

An assertion by Olajide Oshundun, the Delegate Head of Press in the Ministry, read to some degree:

“Since ASUU has chosen to comply with the judgment of the National Industrial Court by canceling the devastating activity, we apologize to all undergraduates, parents and guardians, of which the Honourable Minister is one, for this unduly drawn out strike, which is unjustifiable ab initio.”

It added that “a groundwork is being laid, of which we are confident, will save Nigerians, this unpalatable experience of incessant strikes in future.”
