Farmworker found abducted child and parents dead in California

A child, her parents and uncle who were abducted at gunpoint from their central California business two days ago were reportedly found dead Wednesday, the sheriff of Merced County said.

“Our most horrendously terrible feelings of dread have been affirmed,” Sheriff Vern Warnke told correspondents Wednesday night.

Around 5:30 p.m., a farmworker found the bodies laid together in a Merced county plantation in a “very” remote area, he said.

The report came after authorities delivered reconnaissance video of a man abducting 8-month-old Aroohi Dheri; her mom Jasleen Kaur, 27; father Jasdeep Singh, 36; and uncle Amandeep Singh, 39, on Monday.[irp]

Authorities said they were taken by a sentenced rubber who attempted to commit suicide a day after the kidnappings.

“There’s no words right now to depict the displeasure I feel and the pointlessness of this incident,” Warnke said. “I said it before: There’s an exceptional spot in hell for this person.”

Investigators, including crime lab technicians from the California Department of Justice, would be processing the crime scene through the night, Warnke said. He didn’t immediately supply other details.

Investigators were trying to discover a motive for the slayings, the sheriff said.
