eNaira: CITN Says eNaira Will Reduce Tax Evasion


The Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria has forecast that the introduction of eNaira will reduce tax evasion in the Nigerian economy.

Adesina said: “With the introduction of eNaira, it is ultimately expected that tax evasion will be minimal as it seeks to ensure the traceability of tax credits and enforce transparency in the tax system, thereby increasing government revenues. 

eNaira, a digital currency issued and regulated by the Central Bank of Nigeria, offers consumers and end users fast, safe and easy business and transaction opportunities.

Dr. Mark Abani, Coordinating Dean, CITN, Tax Faculties, said the institute believes it is important to continue educating its members and the general public about the principles of using eNaira in their transactions and stated that the government is optimistic that the introduction of eNaira will improve financial inclusion and trade in Nigeria.
