The Governor of Anambra State and an elstwhile Governor of Central Bank His Excellency Charles Soludo has warned Nigerians not to Choose Barabbas over Jesus as it was the case when Jesus was arrested.
The Governor stressed that whatever made the people to choose a hardened soldier over and above Jesus shouldn’t happen in our time.
NewsWay learnt that he (the governor) was referring to crooked politicians who may be mistaken and voted into power by the people. He said;
“Whatever it is that makes the people choose Barabas over and above Jesus must stop in our time. This, for me, is the lesson we must take away from our Triduum reflections.”
The people must not repeat what was done in the times of Jesus.
According to the scripture, Barabbas was a murderer, a thieve and a criminal who was to be crucified but upon the arrest of Jesus as it was the custom of the Jews to release to them any captive to mark the Passover.
Pilates asked the people who amongst the arrested persons they would prefer him to released for them and they all shouted uniformly “Barabbas” and he granted their request.
Governor Soludo appeal to Nigerians not to repeat that same mistake especially now that a leader is about to be voted into power.
