President Muhammadu Buhari has charged the Super Eagles of Nigeria to continue flying in the continuous African Cup of Nations competition.
Buhari gave the charge in a video call with the Nigerian crew in front of their second round match against Tunisia this evening.
The Super Eagles will take on Carthage Eagles of Tunisia at Roumdé Adjia Stadium, Garoua, Cameroon, by 8pm on Sunday.
Talking through video conference from the Presidential Villa, Abuja, the President talked with Coach Augustine Eguavoen, Captain Ahmed Musa, Amaju Pinnick, President of Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), and Nigerian Ambassador to Cameroon, Gen Abayomi Olonisakin (retd).
Referencing two of the players, Kelechi Iheanacho and Moses Simon, by name, Buhari asked the Super Eagles to keep satisfying Nigerians, by winning the second round match, yet to ultimately lift the prize.
“You’ve been doing Nigeria proud. You’ve been winning. If it’s not too much trouble, continue to win. The Federal Government is supporting you, and I say thank you to all the specialized group and the players.. Kindly continue to do the nation glad,” Femi Adesina, official representative, cited Buhari to have said.
As indicated by Adesina, the president commended the great work being done by the Hon Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Sunday Dare, saying the nation likes it.
