The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested Eberechukwu, the wife of the former governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano.
Mrs Obiano created a ruckus after she became associated with a fight with a previous Nigerian envoy to Spain and wife of Biafra warlord, Mrs Bianca Ojukwu, during the swearing-in of Prof Chukwuma Soludo as Anambra State Governor on March 17.
The previous Anambra First Lady, who has been scrutinized, is at present in the guardianship or custody of the commission in Abuja.
It was discovered that Mrs Obiano was being addressed for supposed extortion.
Her arrest is coming about a month after her husband was arrested at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, as he endeavored to leave for the United States, hours in the wake of giving over to his successor, Soludo.
She is looking to contest in the 2023 races to represent Anambra North District at the Senate under the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA.
The EFCC representative, Wilson Uwujaren, said he didn’t know about Mrs Obiano’s arrest and vowed to find out yet he didn’t answer further requests.
He was along these lines moved to Abuja the next day and interrogated over the supposed diversion of N37 billion security vote and N5bn SURE-P reserve respectively.
