REGISTER FOR THE UNITED NATIONS AFRICA B.I.S GRANT 2021
The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa has initiated a stimulus program to help mitigate the effects of COVID-19 on vulnerable businesses in the African Region.
The program called B.I.S (Business. Idea. Startup) which is aimed at awarding the sum of $25,000 to Africans with innovative ideas, brilliant start-ups and growing businesses.

The authorities explained that whether its just a conceived idea or an already established business, the program is structured to assist you access funds.
Application Requirements
It has been published on the portal that four basic requirements must be met before one becomes eligible to be selected;
1. AGE: An applicant must be above 16years of age and below 65 years to apply for the program.
2. CITIZENSHIP: An applicant must be a bonafide citizen of an African country to apply. Though, it’s not clearly stated whether Africans living or residing in the diaspora can also apply.
3. EDUCATION: Applicants must have at least completed secondary school or it’s equivalent to apply.
4. CONFERENCING TOOL: Applicants must have a close-by device to initiate a video conferencing call.

Program structure
B.I.S grant aimed at empowering Africans to thrive in daunting economy by equipping them with financing, training and mentorship.
The process in which one must aquire the grant has been categorized into three stages;
1. Application Stage: Firstly, applicants shall apply via the online form which is made available on the portal. Within 4 – 5 working days, an applicant should receive a positive or negative feedback from the assessment team.
2. Interview Stage: Applicants who received positive feedbacks shall have a virtual interview with a UN assessment representative. Within 48 – 72 hours (2 – 3days), the interview results should be out.
3. Verification Stage: under this stage, finalists shall go through verification before any disbursement can be initiated.
THE SELECTION CRITERIA
The Criteria that may be used to evaluating applications and awarding grants include;
1. Financial: You should be able to explain how the funds would really contribute to the growth of your idea, start-up or business.
2. Integrity: Your application should be filled with accurate information as the team will often verify applicant’s claims.
3. Team: You should explain why you or your team (if any) is best equipped to execute your idea, startup or business.
4. Broader impact: During the interview, share how the grant funds would impact your society at large.
