Dr. Nicolas Kokkalis, the co-founder of the Pi Network, stated that the difficulties with KYC validation are the only thing preventing the Pi Network from being launched to the open mainnet.
While advising pioneers to be more patient, Kokkalis stated that KYC is still the sole issue standing in the way of the mainnet launch and that they are working to find a quick solution.
Pi founder @nkokkalis said in the developer chat room: KYC issues will be fully resolved before Pi Network opens the mainnet!✊@PiCoreTeam #PiNetwork #pikyc pic.twitter.com/U5bYuCbz0q

Recall that in the last update about KYC, the Pi Core Team has made significant advancements in the KYC procedure in order to:
- Enhance the app’s effectiveness, efficiency, and safety;
- Open KYC to a larger group of Pioneers; and
- Investigate and develop solutions for actual Pioneers who have submitted applications but have not yet received KYC results.
While many of these advancements are not yet accessible to most Pioneers, the overall goal of the KYC work is to allow genuine Pioneers in various countries and regions to pass KYC as accurately and securely as possible while preventing as many fake accounts as possible.
As a Core Team priority, KYC is essential to fostering a vibrant Pi ecosystem by providing reliable & safe-proof onboarding to insure the intrinsic quality of the network.
