Pi Network launched Open Source Software License Program

At the hackathon’s beginning, Pi Network unveiled its Pi Open Source (PiOS) License program in an effort to foster developer cooperation and expand its expansive ecosystem. Developers can share their code as they create beneficial blockchain applications thanks to the effort.

The PiOS license for the protocol assures that programmers produce and make use of open-source tools and apps within the Pi ecosystem. The company said in a news release that the licensing system would guarantee that developers would work together to create original Pi Network applications.

This unique licensing framework allows community developers to build on the contributions of one another, leveraging crowd wisdom of the large community. By consolidating community developers’ collective knowledge and building efforts, Pi Network aims to facilitate diverse ideations and executions to create a robust ecosystem of apps and utilities for the Pi community members,” the statement read.

The program enables developers to expand on the contributions of others. Pi Network aspires to combine original concepts through the collective work of developers to produce a strong ecosystem of useful apps. Dr. Nicolas Kokkalis, one of the Pi Network founders, also provided his opinions on the project.

we have always encouraged cross-collaboration. Through PiOS we hope to enable developers who wish to share their codebase with the community to do so, and also invite contributions to their code from other community developers,” said Dr. Nicolas Kokkalis.

“Our hope is that by allowing Pi Community Developers to create open source applications and tools for the Pi Ecosystem, the community will continue to flourish and encourage others to build as well.”

Developers have access to the code repository that has been granted the PiOS license by other developers in the Pi community. Additionally, Pi awards are given to developers to encourage them to contribute their code to the repository and share their work with one another.
