The air terminal in Norway’s second-biggest city momentarily shut Wednesday after region occupants spotted something like one robotic drone nearby, authorities said.
The Norwegian armed force and state-claimed air terminals administrator Avinor were told after the main drone sited at Bergen Air terminal was reported around at 4:15 a.m., police representative Ørjan Djuvik said. Different sightings were reported at different times same day.
“There can likewise be perceptions that could be other peculiarity, for example climate,” Djuvik said. “We are uncertain whether it is at least one drone, yet we are certain that there is something like one.”
Norwegian news organization NTB said the air terminal in Bergen is situated close to Norway’s super maritime base and the air space was shut. The Haakonsvern base is one of northern Europe’s biggest sea army bases.
North of Bergen, a drone likewise was reported for close to the small, domestic Foerde air terminal, which likewise shut briefly, NTB said.
Police said no suspects had been identified. At least seven Russian citizens were detained over the past few weeks for flying drones or taking photographs of sensitive sites in Norway.
A 47-year-old man with dual Russian and British citizenship was jailed for two weeks on suspicion of flying drones on Norway’s Arctic archipelago of Svalbard and breaching sanctions which came into force after Russia went to war against Ukraine, NTB reported.
