Chief Audu Innocent Ogbeh, born on 28 July 1947 in Otukpa, Benue State, grew up with a keen sense of duty and responsibility. He attended the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and furthered his studies abroad before returning to Nigeria to serve in various capacities as a teacher, writer, administrator, politician, and later farmer. From an early age, Ogbeh demonstrated a strong passion for community development and a belief in using education as a tool for empowerment.
His leadership qualities became evident during his youthful years, particularly as he ventured into politics. By the late 1970s, he had already begun carving a niche for himself as a rising political voice in Benue State, displaying rare foresight, charisma, and an ability to connect with people from all walks of life.

Governor Alia, in his remarks, traced Chief Ogbeh’s early political career to his role as Deputy Speaker of the 1st Benue State House of Assembly, where he served from October 1979 to February 1982, representing the now-defunct Otukpa Constituency.
