The Bahamas Prison, where Sam Bankman-Fried is being imprisoned, has received a request for vegan meals from his family, according to The New York Post. According to the article, the family made the request by calling the Fox Hill prison in Nassau on Tuesday.
The largest scandal in the history of cryptocurrency has Bankman-Fried as its public face. He is currently facing an extradition hearing and eight counts from US prosecutors for orchestrating one of the largest scams the industry has ever seen.
The Bankman-Fried family asks for a vegan option
Sam Bankman-Fried, a known fraudster, was finally apprehended, making it one of the most well-known arrests of the past month. By stealing millions of dollars from customers, the erstwhile billionaire was responsible for FTX’s demise. These assets are therefore unlikely to ever be fully recovered.
The founder of FTX is currently being sought by the US. Eight accusations of fraud and conspiracy have already been brought against him there. Bankman-Fried is now being detained in custody at the Fox Hill Correctional Facility in Nassau.
According to the New York Post, Sam Bankman-family Fried’s has contacted the Bahamas prison to ask for vegan food for him. The report further mentions that, according to informants, the prison is “known to be swarming with rats and maggots.”
Bankman-Fried was detained earlier this week as a result of his indictment. The article also states that he is being kept in a maximum-security area of the Bahamas prison all to himself. Bankman-Fried will stay there until his extradition hearing on February 8th.
The report goes on to say that Bankman-Fried is off-limits to visitors because of COVID-19 limitations. Additionally, the jail’s former warden once declared that it was “unfit for humanity.” In conclusion, it is uncertain whether the prison complied with the request for vegan meals.
