 BY HON. BAR. JOHN TINE

Benue State Gubernatorial Candidate of the NNPP in the 2023 election, and a former Executive Secretary of the National Human Rights Commission, Prof Bem Angwe, has said that the welfare of retirees and workers, among other social security and investment issues were priority areas in his blueprint.

Prof Angwe was recently in Tarka Local Government for two consecutive days 14th –15th Jan, 2023 where he was profusely blessed by the Traditional Council and the NKST Church.

During the visit, he took time to interact with the elderly as well as the Association of Retirees in Tarka Local Government.

He reiterated that because they were his parents, he had planned to interface with them before leaving Tarka LG at this time.

The NNPP flag bearer in Benue State said it was most unfortunate that, after having diligently put in their youthful years in the service of the state, they could not afford the basic necessities of life like food, drugs, portable water and even sanitary wares among others in their old age; saying in civilised climes, this was unacceptable.

He therefore promising them a new lease of life when he becomes governor in March this year.

Responding, the leadership of the Retirees and elders said they were elated having him in their amidst. They said after listening to him, they were convinced that given his pedigree and anticidents, he was their choice because he was better prepared to rescue the suffering masses from their predicament; promising to not only support him, but endeavour to carry the message to all their colleagues across the length and breath of Benue State.
