In a thought-provoking tweet, Pi Network user Doris Yin recently shared her discovery of a PiFest Malaysia merchant accepting Pi payments for a 2024 Honda Accord Full Spec 2.0, priced at 35,000 Pi—equivalent to approximately $35,000. This revelation has sparked a discussion about the practicality and affordability of utilizing Pi for significant purchases within the Pi Network ecosystem.

Yin raises critical questions about the feasibility of acquiring such a high amount of Pi, particularly considering the mining efforts of dedicated users. In her case, after diligently mining for 4.5 years, she finds herself with around 3,000 Pi, a mere fraction of what would be required to purchase the Honda Accord. The intricate dynamics of locking Pi further complicate the affordability for potential buyers.

The tweet delves into the notion that individuals aiming to afford high-value items within the Pi Network would need to acquire Pi through means not aligned with the platform’s guidelines, potentially jeopardizing their accounts.

Furthermore, Yin draws attention to the discrepancy between the 35,000 Pi price tag and the equivalent of a yearly wage in the United States, sparking a reflection on whether Pi Network, initially touted as a platform where pioneers achieve greatness, inadvertently positions its users as workers earning a year’s wage for a major purchase.

The user also contemplates two possible outcomes for Pi Network—either facing potential setbacks due to long delays or successfully establishing a robust ecosystem with a higher Pi price. The latter scenario, symbolized by the proposed GCV of $314,159, aligns with the vision of creating a sustainable and thriving platform.

The tweet emphasizes the need for Pi Network pioneers to embrace a departure from traditional crypto mindsets. The decision to delay entry into the exchange market until the ecosystem matures indicates a strategic move to ensure the stability and success of Pi Network.

Yin concludes by cautioning users against engaging in bartering strategies at low prices, emphasizing the impact on the Open Market (OM) price and the potential risks involved. The message urges the community to focus on contributing to the project’s growth during PiFest and to approach transactions with a long-term perspective.

As the Pi Network community grapples with these considerations, it prompts a broader conversation about the balance between accessibility and sustainability within the evolving ecosystem. Read Similar Story

  • I think the merchant pricing the brand Honda Accord @35,000Pi did understand the intention of the Pi fest or pay with Pi campaign and completely misunderstood the concept of GCV. I don’t think there is any pioneer with this amount of Pi in his wallet, which means one have to acquire pi through other means which unacceptable and dangerous to pi ecosystem. There is need for the Blockchain to record transactions @GCV otherwise Pi will not be able to exchange high value good and service as intended. Pioneers/merchants must adopt and respect the GCV on every product for everyone us realize their dream. I support the GCV
