The Federal Government of Nigeria through the National Cash Transfer Office has began the disbursement of N40,000 to beneficiaries Nationwide.

The Desk Coordinator of the programme in Ushongo Local Government of Benue State Mr. James Iorpine Shom revealed this while answering some questions during an interview with one of the Newsway reporter in Lessel yesterday.

Mr. Shom said the payments commenced yesterday and about 2218 beneficiaries have already benefited from Lessel town. He revealed further that, the remaining beneficiaries who were from the MATA State constituency numbering 2218 will also receive their stimulus today being the 7th day of August, 2022.

Shom however noted that the method of payment has changed this year as the National Cash Transfer Office opened accounts with Hope Microfinance Bank for all beneficiaries and made debit cards for them. He regretted that more time is now needed to attend to a single person because the cards needs activation before withdrawals will be done.

Newsway gathered that the accounts has already been funded with the sum of N40,000 each by the Federal Government. This is because the beneficiaries were usually paid the sum of N5,000 monthly so the N40,000 was actually for eight months (January to August).

The disbursement exercise is likewise going on in other parts of the country too.

Beneficiaries are spread across 24 of Nigeria’s 36 states. Enugu, Ebonyi, Abia, Bayelsa, Delta, Borno, Edo, Lagos, Ogun, Zamfara, Ondo, and Kebbi were among the states that did not benefit from the program as of last year (2021).
