Lucid Motors, the American electric vehicle manufacturer, has experienced a significant uptick in sales, according to registration data from Experian reported by Automotive News. In August alone, 478 new Lucid Air vehicles were registered, marking a notable 40 percent increase compared to the same period last year. This surge brought the total number of Lucid Air registrations from January to August to 4,267, surpassing the eight-month average.
Industry analysts speculate that Lucid’s boost in sales can be attributed to strategic price cuts implemented earlier this year, making their electric vehicles more accessible to consumers. While registration data may lag behind actual sales and deliveries by several weeks, it serves as a reliable proxy for assessing market performance.
During the first eight months of 2023, Lucid Motors recorded 4,267 registrations, slightly trailing behind the Porsche Taycan, which registered 4,505 units. Lucid secured the 18th position among 27 brands offering all-electric cars, demonstrating its competitive position in the evolving electric vehicle market. For comparison, Genesis, another prominent automotive brand, reported 3,525 registrations during the same period.
Lucid Motors is anticipated to release updated production and delivery data for the third quarter of 2023 later this month. In the second quarter, the company achieved a global milestone by delivering 1,404 cars, showcasing its growing presence in the electric vehicle sector.
Looking ahead, Lucid Motors has revised its production volume guidance for the full year 2023 to “more than 10,000 vehicles,” indicating a strong commitment to meeting the escalating demand for its electric vehicles. By the end of the first half of the year, the company had produced just under 4,500 cars and delivered 2,810 units, reflecting a steady pace of production and delivery.
